Plant Sale – Sat 14th May 2016

DSC_2144

Well, on a bright but quite cold mid May morning we held our popular plant sale in the Lowdham Village Hall car park. This included a wide range of summer bedding plants, tomato, courgettes and marrow plants plus a selection of perennials for herbaceous borders. All together it was a successful morning with people from the village and further afield coming along to look and make purchases.

We thank all those who supported yet another venture of our horticultural society and of course a big thank you to members of the society who helped on the morning of the sale. Furthermore, and on this theme, an even bigger thank you goes to our ‘very own local nurseryman’ for all his efforts in growing the high quality summer bedding plants.

We hope that you now do your bit in the garden and have a lovely display of summer colour.

Wonderful colours and fragrances at the annual Spring Show

Well, the phrase ‘Spring has Sprung’ was certainly evident in Lowdham Village Hall last Sunday. With lots of exhibits plus displays of floral art and artwork being enjoyed by lots of visitors there was a lovely atmosphere in a ‘Springlike’ setting. We thank everyone who helped in any way at the show and of course everyone who came along. Look out for future events such as talks, coach trips, plant sales and of course the annual Summer Show on August Bank Holiday Monday.

APRIL TALK

Thank you to all of you who supported our Spring Show last Sunday.  It was a lovely day and it was great to see so many of you there.

Just a reminder that our April talk is at 7.30pm next Thursday, 28th April at the WI Hall, Lowdham.  We will be visited by Don Witton, who has been a gardener for over 40 years and an avid ‘Hardy Planter’ for 25 years. He is a member of three national garden charities, the Hardy Plant Society, Plant Heritage and the Royal Horticultural Society.  Don holds a Plant Heritage National Collection of hardy Euphorbia which has been featured on BBC2’s Gardeners’ World twice as well as BBC TV’s Tatton Park Show programme. He has staged exhibits at the Tatton Park Show for over10 years and has received a collection of medals including 2 ‘Golds’.  Don will be sharing his favourite talk with us, all about Euphorbias. All are welcome and there is a small fee of £2 to non-members.

We also have our annual plant sale on Saturday 14th May from 9am to 11am in Lowdham Village Hall car park.  We have bought in more plug plant this year to grow on and have grown a greater variety of vegetable plants to sell on too.  This has become an increasingly popular event and there are lots of good quality, reasonably priced plants available.  Please spread the word to people that you know who may be interested. Donations of plants for us to sell are always welcome!

Hope you are all enjoying the more spring like weather.

Spring Show – Sunday 17th April 2016

Well, Spring has sprung, so let’s hope it’s in full bloom together with all the fragrances this coming Sunday in Lowdham Village Hall. Our annual show is open between 1.00pm and 4.00pm and only costs £1.50 to enter with no admission charge for children. There are displays of floral art and artwork by village groups. Perhaps you may like to ‘have a go’ and enter some flowers or shrubs in the show, in which case, this may be done between 9.30 and 11.30am on the day. There will be hot and cold drinks plus delicious home made cakes available. We welcome all visitors who come along and support the village event. See you there🌻🌺🌼💐
