PLANT SALE

Next Saturday 16th May, Lowdham Horticultural Society holds its annual plant sale from 9am to 11am in the Village Hall Car Park.  There will be vegetable plants, bedding plants, annuals and perennials available – all at a reasonable price.  Donations of plants are always welcome!

Talk on Friday 24th April

Our next talk is at 7.30pm this Friday,  24th April at the WI Hall, Lowdham.

We will be visited by David Thornton, a RHS judge. He is the current General Secretary of the National Vegetable Society and Chairman of the Derbyshire Horticultural Association, a keen grower and national standard exhibitor for 25 years and ex British Champion in various vegetable classes. He will be talking to us about how to prepare fruit and vegetables ready to stage them at the Summer Show in August.

All are welcome and there is a small charge of £2 to non-members.

SPRING SHOW REMINDER

This Sunday, 19th April, is our annual Spring Show at Lowdham Village Hall.  Entries need to be in between 9.30 and 11.30am.  The show opens at 1pm with prize giving at 3.30pm.  There will be a display of artwork by the ‘Lowdham Painting for Pleasure’ group as well as a display of floral art by the ‘Lowdham Saint Mary’s Flower Guild’. Admission is only £1.50 and refreshments will be available.

Donations of cakes for the refreshments and any offers of help will be greatly received.  Don’t forget to bring along your entries, including the ‘Falconet’ daffodils that our members were given to grow.  Mine are a bit ahead of themselves, but hopefully the rest of you will have timed the flowering better!

Please come along and join us to enjoy the wonderful colours and scents of spring.
